Today I was lucky to have signed up for talking to the summer school students in Peace Research. A fantastic class, less than half way through my lecture I let the questions loose, only to discover at the end that I had covered more ground than I had ever anticipated. My presentation was on ‘Critical Challenges to Peacebuilding in Afghanistan’. We covered all elements. I was critically challenged. On peacebuilding concepts. And Afghanistan. I also met the class yesterday (probably the first summer school class to have been welcomed by two PRIO directors in 7 days). Nils Petter (former PRIO director) gave a talk yesterday on the evolution of Peace Research, of which I enjoyed the first part (till the 1970s, look forward to an occasion to get the rest of the story). A great class, very competently organized, those of you who plan to address them have something to look forward to. Kendra and Maria are doing a wonderful job. Also, a thanks to Stephan, who has voluntarily stepped in on the logistics side after Kendra harmed her arm, biking the tram lines of Oslo. Wish you all, and the students, a good summer school summer.
This was a great lecture, thanks again Kristian!
