The PRIO juletrefest

The PRIO annual ’juletrefest’ happened yesterday. It was super to see all the PRIOite kids, PRIOite mates and PRIOites having such fun in the Philosopher’s Hall. I appreciated the opportunity to renew acquaintances. A good pizza meal was followed by walking around the x-mas tree (generously on loan from the humanitarians across the courtyard). There were competitions (I dare not reveal who excelled at eating licorice laces with hands on back!).

Then came the nisse, for some reason first detected in the NRX canteen. Had he lost his way? He soon reappeared in the courtyard, throwing a snowball at overeager kids waiting at the disarmoury doorway. Bad manners? Goodies were distributed to all the kids. Some were slightly nisse-skeptic, but no immediate traumas were brought about. There was some confusion as to whether the nisse was Norwegian or truly international, as he spoke (mainly) in Norwegian – the same language the kids addressed him in – and further confusion was created as he sung (Musevisa by Alf Prøysen) in English.

I realize that my job is not only variegated, but also fun. I do things which does not figure in my work description. No secrets revealed. Back to work!

Thanks to Anita for sharing her pictures. More to be found here.
