The spirit of dugnad!

This is about one of the reasons PRIO is such a good place to be. Last Monday, we had some 100 people signed up for the seminar with Kai Eide. Almost at the same moment that Agnete had pushed the send button with a plea for assistance rearranging Philo, the area was filled with enthusiastic Prioites. The job was quickly done.

The seminar was a great success, and I was glad to see so many of you there. The dugnad to bring Philo back to normal on Monday afternoon was equally much a success. The pictures here (thanks to Cathrine!) do not pay justice to all who joined in (but when I am not visible in the pictures, I have to admit that is a fair depiction of reality).

And if anybody has a great English term for ‘dugnad’, please send it to me. I miss the word more than once, also in professional contexts, particularly when I talk about Norway’s response – in its peace and reconciliation engagement – to emerging powers and new actors. Anyone?
