This includes one Centre of Excellence proposal – Transforming Political Violence (TPV) – spearheaded by HÃ¥vard H - truly an excellent proposal that should be able to stand its ground in the evaluations. In the spirit of transparency, the proposal is posted on the PRIO web. We know that a total of 139 proposals were submitted. What we are now part of is the prequalification, with decisions on who makes it to the second round being due in November – and the next deadline in February 2012 (we shall assume that TPV is invited). Final decisions are due in September 2013, with start-up already January 2014.
The other applications are also of remarkable quality, and I am impressed with the creativity and hard work that has gone into this. The applications are very well placed in PRIO’s strategic landscape. We have 8 eight FRISAM applications (where a total of 147 applications compete for 86 mill. NOK) and 1 in FRIHUM (where a total of 156 applications compete for 80 mill. NOK). I realize that not all of our proposals will be funded, but seeing the combination of originality, quality and relevance that this pile of proposals represent, I feel good about PRIO’s future. With a pool of plans like this, there is every reason to follow up with applications to other funders.
Thanks to all! Wishing you a peaceful, well-deserved Pentacoast-weekend!
