Migration Strategies

Yesterday, I took part in a strategy meeting for the migration team. We met in my office, Maria brought homemade cookies, we had wonderful fruit, and to top it all up – a visit by Cindy and two-months old Tim! Warming up for the Strategy get-away on 25-26 this month, we discussed, among other things: the applicability of the ‘team model’ beyond migration, project development and the changing funding scene, and staff diversity. Not the least did we start strategizing on future research foci – of which ‘migration strategies’ may be one – pinning down the relationship between poverty, mobilization and migration as one area of key interest. The migration team has evolved into a very productive environment (in more ways than one!). As an afterthought, the meeting also made me aware of the extent to which my own research commitments, which admittedly have been shrunk quite a bit in recent months, includes scarcely little on migration. Good to know then, that the larger PRIO migration community is doing so well!
